Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Launches New Aseptic Production Line at Tokai Plant
Enhancing supply of small PET bottles in the Tokai region while reducing water and energy use through advanced sterilization technology

Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc.

Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc.(CCBJI) has introduced a new aseptic production line at its Tokai Plant (Tokai City, Aichi Prefecture). A completion ceremony was held on September 27 to mark the occasion.

Tokai Plant’s new Line No. 1

The new line can produce approximately 600 small PET bottle products per minute, further expanding CCBJI’s capacity to meet rising demand for these products. This line features two systems previously unseen in any of CCBJI’s 17 plants. The first system uses a two-stage sterilization process, where preforms are sterilized before being molded into PET bottles, followed by a second sterilization post-molding. This method significantly reduces water and energy required to sterilize the containers before filling. The second system combines rinsing and sterilization simultaneously after filling the bottles, so the product cooling process, which was conventionally performed between rinsing and sterilization, is no longer necessary, shortening production lead time.
Together, these systems are expected to cut water usage by 30% and energy consumption by 15% compared to conventional systems.
CCBJI is committed to continue delivering safe and reliable Coca-Cola products to the communities it serves through the building of robust production and supply systems capable of responding to changes in consumers' taste preferences.
