Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc. (Headquarters in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President Calin Dragan; hereafter “CCBJI”) has banned all CCBJI Group employees from smoking throughout the company premises regardless of indoors and outdoors from January 2023, as a health management initiative.

Since January 2020, CCBJI Group has been committing to non-smoking during working hours (except breaks), non-smoking indoors, and non-smoking inside company vehicles with some exceptions.  And in further efforts to maintain and promote employees' health and prevent passive smoking and disease, its internal rules on non-smoking will become stricter. In addition, CCBJI will strengthen non-smoking measures by expanding and improving its program to support employees in quitting smoking, including online medical service, and implementing continuous educational activities. Furthermore, the company will set a non-smoking day once a month starting from this June, and once a week from January 2023 to gradually increase the frequency, and totally ban smoking throughout the company premises including outdoors from January 2023.

As a total beverage company that provides products and services that are essential to the daily lives of many, CCBJI believes that its employees have the responsibility of taking the initiative to lead active and healthy lifestyles and expressed its commitment to support their efforts to this end in the form of Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Health Declaration (*1). CCBJI was certified as “Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization (White 500)” (*2) in March 2020 as a result of its continuous health enhancement for employees.

With the introduction of new ways of working due to the spread of the COVID-19, people are encouraged to go straight home or work from home, which reduces the opportunities for commuting and travel, and thus reduces the time for physical exercise. In response to this, as a measure to promote health, we have developed our own original smartphone application that displays the number of steps walked and the percentage of the goal achieved, and have held the "Sawayaka Walk" event to encourage moderate walking exercise. We are also promoting commuting by bicycle to reduce the risk of infection by the COVID-19.

Through the consistent efforts to help the employees maintain and promote their health, CCBJI intends to continue providing high-quality products and value-added services as a total beverage company committed to enrich people’s daily lives by delivering happy and refreshing moments at every occasion available.
