Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan has signed an "agreement on disaster resilience improvement" with Hakone-machi in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Hakone-machi is located in Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park in Southwest of Kanagawa Prefecture that has rich nature of Ashinoko and beautiful mountains. Hakone-machi has been an important place for Tokaido since a long time ago, and prosperous thanks to its hot springs and post-station that have become touristic destinations where many people from Japan and the overseas visit.
This agreement is designed for CCBJI to support and contribute to Hakone-machi by installing "Disaster-Proof Vending Machines" in the places where many tourists visit and the evacuation sites. These vending machines can display information on disaster prevention provided by the municipality on their built-in message board in the event of a disaster. They can also be configured remotely and dispense products stocked in the machine free of charge.
The "Disaster-Proof Vending Machines" that will be installed under the agreement are designed with inspiration of marquetry, which is the traditional craft of Hakone-machi, in a quiet tone of color. The official mascot character of Hakone-machi, "Hakojiro", is also featured in the design that is well blended with the landscape of Hakone-machi.
Continuing to uphold "community-based" as the corporate philosophy, CCBJI will come close to the people's lives and daily livings, and contribute to local communities as a total beverage company that delivers happy, refreshing moments every day, and in every occasion of their lives.
