Comment from Mr. Shunji Kono, Governor of Miyazaki Prefecture (Excerpt)

I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to Ebino Plant on receiving this "Prime Minister's Award for the 2020 Greening Promotion Movement." This award was granted to Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc. Ebino Plant for its enormous contributions over the years as a park-based plant that is open to the general public. These include planting seasonal flowers, welcoming visitors to its plant tours, maintaining the park to attract visitors, and creating forest as large as 502 acres as part of Miyazaki Prefecture's "forest creation by companies" system.
In addition, Ebino Plant has been forced to refrain from conducting its plant tours, etc. at the present time due to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, it has been popular among the people of Miyazaki Prefecture as "Green Park Ebino." The plant has also been actively involved in succor and other various events in collaboration with the local community, making contributions as a community-based plant. Once again, I would like to sincerely express my respect to its employees and the parties involved for their contributions thus far. I hope that this award will be a great encouragement for them to continue to work on the greening of the plant even in the post-COVID-19 era.

Comment from Bruce Herbert, Executive Officer and Head of SCM, CCBJI

We are absolutely delighted that our Ebino Plant was selected for the "Prime Minister's Award for the 2020 Greening Promotion Movement." Furthermore, we would like to thank Governor Kono and all Miyazaki prefectural office workers with all our heart for providing us with this opportunity. Of our 17 plants in our business area, Ebino Plant is our southernmost manufacturing plant. It began its operations in 2005, and in March of the following year, started offering plant tours and opened its parkland to the general public. Currently, the plant produces PET bottle products on the two manufacturing lines.
It is an important production and logistics base in the southern Kyushu area and is a park-based plant in harmony with the rich, natural environment. The plant and its park-like grounds attract as many as 150,000 visitors annually, including 70,000 visitors for our plant tours. We will continue to strive to gain more popularity with the people in the community as a tourist facility in Miyazaki Prefecture.
Our plant tours and various events are suspended at present due to COVID-19. We will, however, continue to fulfill our social responsibilities as a total beverage company by promoting plant greening and environmental conservation activities in collaboration with residents and providing safe and secure products and services essential to daily life.
