Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc. (hereafter “CCBJI”) has endorsed the Green Transformation (GX) League Basic Concept announced by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The GX League will be established as a forum for companies engaged in green transformation activities to cooperate with groups implementing similar initiatives. Such groups include government bodies, academic & financial institutions and other NGOs. The purpose of the forum is to share ideas to accelerate the overall transformation of social systems and the creation of new markets towards the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. The GX League Basic Concept sets out fundamental guidelines to promote discussion of the GX League’s detailed design and empirical demonstration in FY 2022. Participating companies are expected to work towards carbon neutrality throughout their supply chains, as well as markets for their products and services. In addition, participants must undertake efforts to reduce GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions.
As part of CCBJI’s sustainability framework, we have identified nine priority issues, (including GHG emissions and renewable energy) within our three platforms of Inclusion, Communities and Resources. We aim to reduce GHG emissions by 50% in Scopes 1 and 2 (emissions from plants, offices, and energy consumption) and 30% in Scope 3 (emissions from raw material processing, vending machines, etc) by 2030.Furthermore, we are working on various initiatives to reduce the CO2 emissions across our entire business, including in procurement, manufacturing, logistics/transportation, and sales. In addition to promoting waste management and recycling, CCBJI applies the environmental ISO 14001 standards to all business operations, including offices, manufacturing plants, and sales centers. We aim to further reduce environmental impact by fully complying with all applicable laws and regulations. CCBJI continues to make efforts in solving social issues through its business activities and aims to realize a sustainable society.
