Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc. (Headquarters in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President Calin Dragan; hereafter “CCBJI”) concluded on June 28 (Mon) a Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement (hereafter “Agreement”) with Fussa City, Tokyo (Mayor Ikuo Kato) in efforts to improve the city’s public services and further vitalize the community.
Under this Agreement, CCBJI and Fussa City will work together in various areas including initiatives related to the promotion of tourism and the vitalization of the community; child rearing and education; and disaster and crime prevention.

As part of these initiatives under this Agreement, CCBJI will install Food Loss Prevention Vending Machines (Note 1) in Fussa City. On Food Loss Prevention Vending Machines, products that have become surplus stocks are sold at less than the usual price, along with regular products. Products in surplus stock are no different from regular products aside from the shorter expiration date (approx. 2 months). CCBJI hopes that selling Food Loss Prevention Products at lower prices will increase shoppers' opportunities to purchase its products and trigger an improvement in shopper awareness.
In addition, CCBJI will use part of the proceeds from its vending machines to be installed in the buildings and premises owned by Fussa City mainly for child rearing and education related collaborative initiatives.
Under our corporate philosophy, “Paint it Red!”, we aim to fulfill our “mission” to deliver happy moments to everyone while creating value; work on CSV (Creating Shared Value) through our core business to address community challenges; and continue to join hands with various partners going forward.
[Comment by Fussa City Mayor Ikuo Kato]
Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan has been cooperating with us in various occasions including the Fussa Tanabata Festival. I am very pleased to have this opportunity to conclude this agreement again. Through the conclusion of this agreement, I hope that we will make use of know-how that CCBJI possesses to further invigorate the community. In addition, Fussa City is focusing on child rearing and education under the slogan “rearing children in Fussa.” We intend to work together in particular on "child-rearing and education projects” through this agreement going forward.
[Comment from CCBJI Vending Area Sales Tokyo Regional Division Head Kenichi Kubo]
I am pleased to have concluded this agreement with Fussa City to collaborate on the improvement of public services and further vitalization of the community. Based on this agreement, we will install food loss prevention vending machines as well as disaster-relief vending machines first to help the city with the creation of a sustainable community and disaster prevention efforts in the region. Furthermore, we will use part of the proceeds from our vending machines to be installed in the facilities in Fussa City for initiatives related to child rearing and education to assist in delivering even more happy moments to the people of Fussa City.
(Note 1)
The activity of installing Food Loss Prevention Vending Machines aims to reduce food loss based on "12. Responsible Consumption and Production" in SDGs, and gives endorsement to the No-Foodloss Project, which is led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. This is the fourth food loss prevention vending machine installed in Fussa City.
