On Monday, May 31, Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc. (Headquarters in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & President Calin Dragan; hereafter “CCBJI”) concluded a Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement for Community Revitalization (hereafter “the Agreement”) with Kiyose City, Tokyo (Mayor Kintaro Shibuya) in efforts to improve the city’s public services and to invigorate the community.

Based on the Agreement, CCBJI and Kiyose City will work together in various areas including matters concerning the promotion of SDGs, safety & comfort of life and in the community, city promotions, etc. to drive initiatives that improve people’s lives.
As a part of such initiatives, we will install the Food Loss Prevention Vending Machine in Kiyose City. The activity of installing Food Loss Prevention Vending Machines aims to reduce food loss based on "Responsible Consumption and Production" in SDGs, and gives endorsement to the No-Foodloss Project, which is led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. On Food Loss Prevention Vending Machines, products that have become surplus stocks are sold at less than the usual price, along with regular products. Surplus stock products are no different from regular products other than the fact that they are close to the best-before-dates (about 2 months). We expect that selling food loss prevention products at lower prices will increase shoppers' opportunities to purchase our products and trigger an improvement in shopper awareness. We will also install disaster-relief vending machines, managed by CCBJI, as a measure against disasters. These vending machines will be used to provide drinks free of charge during a disaster and offer emergency support.
Under our corporate philosophy, “Paint it Red!”, we aim to fulfill our “mission” to deliver happy moments to everyone while creating value; work on CSV (Creating Shared Value) through our core business to address community challenges; and continue to join hands with various partners going forward.
[Comment by Kiyose City Mayor Kintaro Shibuya]
“Community building through collaboration” is a major goal in Kiyose City. And I am extremely pleased to have concluded the Agreement with Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan Inc. Kiyose City and Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan will be working closely together so that all Kiyose citizens may live in comfort and with pride, by implementing diverse initiatives and striving to invigorate the communities and improve public services, resulting in mutual growth.

I am pleased to be working with Kiyose City through the conclusion of this Agreement, to collaborate on community revitalization and improvement of public services. With this agreement, we will install food loss prevention vending machines and disaster-relief vending machines to promote SDGs and provide assistance for the safety and security of people’s daily lives. We also hope to work together on “community building through collaboration” efforts concerning city promotion, nurturing civic pride, etc., so that we can support in delivering even more happy moments to the people of Kiyose City.
