Responsible for price negotiation and procurement of vending machines and other sales equipment

The SME Procurement Department is in charge of negotiating prices and procuring various goods and services related to our manufacturing and sales, from raw materials such as sugar and coffee beans to indirect materials related to sales and sometimes even securing office space. I belong to a division that is in charge of vending machines and other equipment, such as small cold and hot drink storage cabinets installed next to cash registers and other locations, as well as dispensers used for free drinks at family restaurants. Another division is in charge of placing orders, but I negotiate with machine manufacturers, who are our suppliers, based on their past order records and forecasts for the next fiscal year, and put together annual contracts that take advantage of the economies of scale.

My work and personal life are both important to me

In my previous job and the job before that, I was involved in such tasks as the procurement of raw materials and the establishment of local subsidiaries. I often traveled overseas and found it interesting to be able to work with people with different cultures and values, but with the birth of my child, I decided to rethink my way of working, which is why I changed jobs. I chose this company not only because of the content of the work, but also because I felt that I could work in a way that emphasized the work-life balance that I wanted. I was also attracted by the opportunity to work for a global brand. Now, I have a fulfilling private life and am able to spend time with my family.

Everyone is open, with active communication, even when working remotely

When I first joined the company, I was more than a little worried about whether I would be able to fit in. However, as most of the members were open-minded, I soon felt at ease and became a part of the team. Recently, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, I have been encouraged to work from home in principle and go directly home for business meetings, etc., so I have fewer opportunities to meet my fellow team members. However, in order to achieve our mission, communication among members is essential. We use chat and other means to actively communicate with each other on a regular basis, whether it is just asking how everyone is doing or if they have any problems, or sharing information.
