During this summer, Summer School was held at Tama Plant on Sat. Jul. 22 and Sun. Jul. 23, at Tokai Plant on Sat. Jul. 29 and Sun. Jul. 30, and at Zao Plant on Sat. Aug. 5 and Sun. Aug. 6, whereas approx. 1,300 people visited the plants during these 6 days, and many of the participating parents and children had fun visiting the plants. This year, the Summer School was mainly consisted of 3 programs.
The first was the plant tour program. The participants visited the powerful manufacturing process. This is the very best part of plant tours! Additionally to that, participants had fun at the exhibition corner playing around with the tablet device contents and taking pictures and so on.
The second was a story about the forest. Under the theme of 'Let's learn from the forest', the initiatives regarding water source preservation implemented by Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan were introduced, where the participants learned how important the forest and water are while having fun listening to the story. By renewing our acknowledgement regarding in what way we are using water during our daily lives, both adults and children learnt that water is very much important for us to maintain our lives. The program was highly evaluated, where many of the participants had said, "we will support the future activities by CCBJI hoping that forests full of nature would extend on and on", or "we are happy that the children got to know the importance of water.
The last program was creating of original post cards made of thinned wood to write letters on it. The post cards prepared were those made of hinoki cypress thinned wood originally from Shizuoka Pref. They were blank post cards with the brand mark of the contour bottle and Coca-Cola logo only. The participants worked upon creating their own post cards under the theme of "Let's write a summer letter for your loved one".
Shown below are some of the post cards created by the participants. They are addressed to various people, such as their family members, friends, or teachers, etc. Some participants had commented that, while smartphones and PCs prevail and there is less opportunity to write a letter to someone to communicate their feelings, this program has enabled them to reconfirm the connection among the family members once again.
Many family members had gathered for the event this year.
We will continue planning for similar events in the future.
Participation of many family members would be highly appreciated.
Introduced below are some of the comments provided by the participants.
